Healthlink is an electronic communications project funded by the Health Service Executive. The project was initiated in the Mater Hospital in 1995 but evolved into a national project with the launch of HealthlinkOnline in 2003. Healthlink provide a web-based messaging service which allows the secure transmission of patient information such as test results and referrals over the internet. The services bring significant benefits and efficiencies to General Practice including a reduction in the length of time it takes to receive patient test results and the length of time spent contacting hospital departments, a reduction in administration and direct integration with practice management systems.

Healthlink work with GUH in providing a number of services such as Laboratory results, Radiology results, Discharge Summaries, Cancer referrals and Neurology referrals.

Services are free of charge to all GP practices. Support is available from 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday.
