Getting Involved

Volunteers

UHG has a Volunteers Service. Volunteers are located at the main reception desk of the hospital and are recognisable by the maroon tabard that they wear. Our Volunteers offer help to both patients and visitors. They undertake such tasks as walking you to a ward or department, directing you to a location, bring you by wheelchair to an area in the hospital.

We very much welcome new members to our Hospital Volunteers Team. You may have a few hours to give as a Volunteer if so please telephone 091 - 544065 / 544547 for information regarding becoming a Hospital Volunteer.

Patient Advocacy Group

We value the views of all who attend our hospitals and we liaise with the Patient Advocacy Group. The forum was established to enable patients, staff and the public to have a say on the quality of services at Galway University Hospitals. The 13 member forum is made up of 6 members of the public and 7 hospital staff and is representative of hospital service users, their carers and members of staff at the hospitals.

The service aims to help improve the service offered to patients and their families by providing its members with an opportunity to exchange information and opinions on the type and quality of services.
